Intervista ai Comanechi ITA/ENG

- Iniziamo dal vostro nome: Comanechi. Una parola strana e curiosa che ho subito collegato al mondo fantasy. La mia curiosità è a mille, da dove è uscito questo moniker?
- Mah, veramente non c’è niente di fantasy nel nostro nome.
- Tre parole per descrivere i Comanechi.
- Amore, onestà e passione.
- “Crime of Love” (qui la recensione di “Crime of Love“) è il vostro esordio, il vostro primo parto formato album. E’ stato un parto indolore o è stato faticoso?
- Sì, è stato piuttosto faticoso.
- Stavolta voglio tre parole per descrivere “Crime of Love”.
- Amore, imbrogli e gelosia.
- Quali sono, per voi, le maggiori influenze a livello musicale e non quando componete?
L’amore per la vita.
- Tre brani mi hanno colpito maggiormente: Rabbit Hole, Mesmerising Fingers e la conclusiva R.O.M.P. (Revenge On My Pussy). Di cosa parlano? Cosa c’è nascosto dietro questi curiosi titoli?
- Non c’è niente di nascosto, questi sono i loro titoli e dicono tutto. Per esempio, Mesmerising Fingers parla di un uomo con le dita ipnotizzate. Revenge of my pussy parla di un gatto morto che ritorna per vendicarsi dell’uomo che l’ha ucciso.
- Il video di Rabbit Hole è divertentissimo! Una vostra pazza idea?
- E’ stato realizzato da un mio amico, Conan, con un’econonica videocamera. Ha proposto di filmarci nella mia cucina ma l’idea di fare dei pancake è mia.. da lì abbiamo iniziato ad avere tante altre idee, come lanciare pancake mentre suovano la batteria, disegnarci un coniglio sopra ecc…
- Le copertine dei vostri lavori mi hanno totalmente rapito e incuriosito. Buffe e divertente, fanno contrasto con la musica che racchiudono. Chi si occupa della grafica? Fate tutto da soli? Pensate che, quando vidi la copertina di “Crime of Love”, pensai subito al mondo dei manga e degli anime!
- Penso che le copertina non siano per niente divertenti, l’emozione sul viso della ragazza rispecchia perfettamente la musica nell’album, sono complementari e insieme hanno un senso. E sì, faccio tutte le copertine.
- Che cosa fanno i Comanechi nella vita quando non sono sul palco?
- Io suono in altre band, quindi di solito sono in tour, provo e registro con loro. Simon produce pedali per chitarra, è veramente bravo.

- Let’s start from your name: Comanechi. It’s a strange and curious word that reminds me of the fantasy world. I’m very curious, where does this moniker come from?

- “Crime of love” is your debut album, your very first work. Was it hard to make it or not?
- Yes it was hard to make it.
- This time I want 3 words to describe “Crime of Love”.
- Love, Cheating, Jealousy.
- What are your influences when you write your music?
- Love life.
- I’ve been very impressed by some tracks, like Rabbit Hole, Mesmerising Fingers and the last R.O.M.P. (Revenge on my Pussy). What do they talk about? What is hidden behind these curious titles?
- Nothing hidden behind, it’s the title of the songs and they say all about them. For example, Mesmerising Fingers is about a man who has mesmerising fingers. Revenge of my pussy is about my cat who died came to revenge the man who killed him.
- Rabbit Hole’s video is very funny! Is it a crazy idea of yours?
- It was made by my friend Conan with my cheap video camera, he suggested to film us in my kitchen, but making a pancake was my idea… then we just started to get more and more ideas, like flipping a pancake while I’m drumming, drawing a rabbit on it etc.
- The covers of your works have totally captured me and made me curious. They’re funny, which is in contrast with the music they contain. Who takes care of the graphic? Do you make all on your own? The first time I saw “Crime of Love”’s cover I thought immediately at the worlds of mangas and anime!
- I don’t think the cover is funny at all, the emotion in the girl’s face says all about the music on the album, they are completely together and make total sense. And Yes, I do all the artwork.
- What do Comanechi usually do, when they’re not on the stage?
- I have other bands, so I’m usually always touring, rehearsing, recording with them as well. Simon makes guitar pedals. He’s really good.
